A flight around the Otago Harbour and Otago Peninsular
What better way to spend a Sunday morning than flying over the beautiful Otago Harbour and Otago Peninsular. We left Taieri airfield and flew over Chain Hills towards the coast.
Below is St Clair beach, showing the St Clair salt water swimming pool, St Clair Esplanade with it’s cafes etc. From there we flew over the southern side of the Peninsular. It was a little bit hazy at times and the plane windows weren’t that clean 🙂 but thought you would like to see the photos anyway.

 Tomahawk Beach and Lagoon
Looking over Smaills beach, Tomahawk beach and Lagoon  to the City and Harbour. The remains of two World War 11 gun emplacements, seen in the center of the photo stand close to the Jack Fox Lookout, which is at the top of the promontory which separates Tomahawk Beach from Smaill’s Beach.
Sandfly baySandfly Bay Recreation Reserve is remarkable for its native fauna and flora and its spectacular views of the Otago Peninsula coastline and cliff tops. Yellow Eyed penguins, seals, sea lions and many sea birds can be seen in this area.
