On a recent trip to Jack’s Bay we saw a large female and smaller female sea lion getting out of the water and heading reasonably quickly up the beach.
We spend a lot of time in the Catlins area and often see sea lions but on a recent visit to Surat Bay we weren’t expecting to see one quite this close.

We decided to visit one of our favorite places for Easter – Papatowai in the Catlins. The DOC camp was quite busy which we hadn’t expected, the last time we stayed there were only about four other groups staying there. The weather was good, overcast at times but warm enough.
